Can’t Save a TikTok Video From the App? Use these two methods

TikTok is now one of many people’s biggest sources of entertainment, considering the long number of hours they spend scrolling through the app.

When going through such a large amount of videos and photos, you’re bound to come across some you’d like to watch again.

This is one of the reasons the TikTok app allows its users to download videos. Unfortunately, the option to download media isn’t always available—and when that happens, how would you do?

Yes, you can always screen record with your device, but all the icons, tags, and captions will be interrupted.

If this is the problem you need help with right now, then relax, we’ve got you covered in this guide.

We’ll also show you how to download TikTok videos on your computer with third-party sites, even when the download feature isn’t available.

Why would you want to download a TikTok video?

With so much informative media on TikTok, saving some videos to watch later isn’t a bad idea. Moreover, you can even watch your saved videos offline without wifi or an internet connection.

TikTok is housing a vast amount of content—which means there’s something for everyone. And thanks to its enhanced algorithm, the For You page (FYP) has been tailor-made to suit users’ interests.

So if you’re interested in working out and keeping an excellent physique, it’s most likely that you’ll be seeing a lot of exercise and fitness tips videos, and when you download them, you can easily refer back to them anytime you want.

Another important reason you might want to download TikTok videos is to easily share offline, instead of sending them a link that they’ll have to open first.

When you have the video files in your photo library, you can send them to people directly through apps like Allshare or Xender on Android.

This means you can share videos with your friends without an internet connection.

Why Can’t You Download Videos From TikTok?

The download feature might not be available on some videos, and there are some reasonable reasons for this.

TikTok gives content creators/users the luxury of turning off the download option via the Privacy settings, or on an individual video’s settings.

Some people just don’t want their content to be downloaded, usually a way of preventing theft again (some people’s content could have been stolen)- or simply the fear.

Another option is to take the content off the app altogether by deleting the videos.

Some reports have also claimed that the download feature isn’t available in certain regions.

So, even if the content creator wants to turn on the download feature so that users can download and watch later, they might not be allowed to.

And sometimes, there could be a glitch or a bug in the app that’s preventing the download feature from working normally.

Before You Download TikTok Videos using other methods, note this!

As the title of this guide suggests, we’ll be showing you how to download TikTok videos that can’t be saved from the app. However, this might pose a few issues with copyright infringement.

If the creator has clearly stated that they’ve disabled downloads, you must respect their privacy by not sharing the video with anyone else.

For further information, review TikTok’s Intellectual Property Policy. It states that users can’t post or send content without the creator’s permission. This means you need the content creator’s permission to send or share the content.

If you’re not sure whether the creator has intentionally turned off downloads, or if it’s simply a glitch in the app, you can ask them in the comments of the video—or send a direct message—asking for permission to share it.

Remember, you only have the green light to share it with credit, or share it with your friends if they say yes, allowing you to do so.

The third-party sites we’re going to show you will download TikTok content without the TikTok watermark that contains the creator’s username.

So, if you’d be using this method, don’t share the video either—unless the creator has manually included their watermark.

Finally, ensure you have enough free storage on your device, otherwise, you can free up your storage.

If the videos start piling up in your media library, you’ll run out of space before you know it.

How to Save Unsavable TikTok videos From the TikTok Website

The TikTok website doesn’t allow the download option, whether the content creator enables the option or not. But you can still save a TikTok video without the save button.

After you’ve signed in, click once on the video that you’d like to save to open it.

Once you’re on the video, right-click and select Inspect. Make sure that you’re on the Elements tab and start scrolling to look for a text that begins with “<video src=”. Chances are that you’ll find it under several rows of “<div class=” texts.

You must hover over the text to make sure it’s selected. When it is, you’ll see that the video has been highlighted in blue as well.

After highlighting the text, right-click on the HTTPS address in that text and click on Open in New Tab. It’ll redirect you to a new tab with a media player playing the TikTok video.

In this new tab, you have to right-click on the video and select Save video as. In the pop-up window, rename the video file, choose your preferred storage location, and click on Save.

And it’s as simple as that. Your TikTok video should now be in the location folder you selected.
