How to Change your Chromebook  Language

The steps below may be used to change the language of the Chromebook’s settings and menu:

1. On your Chromebook, select the Settings icon by clicking the time at the bottom.

2. Select Languages and input by expanding the Advanced menu.

3. Select “Languages.”

4. Select the Device language and then click the Change button.

5. Look up the phrase you want to use. Select it after that, and then click the Restart and confirm button.

Tip: To change the device language back to English, repeat the previous procedures and choose the English language in step 5.

How to Add and Modify the Chromebook’s Default Keyboard Language

Follow the steps below to switch your typing language on a Chromebook:

1. Go to your Chromebook’s settings.

2. Select Languages under Advanced.

3. Select Keyboard and Inputs.

4. To add a new keyboard language, click on the Add input methods option.

5. Select the languages you wish to add by checking the box next to them and clicking the Add button.

6. The Input methods section will now display the chosen languages. The default keyboard language is determined by the language that shows at the top.

Click on the language you wish to select as the default to alter the keyboard’s default language. It will have the label “Enabled” next to it. I’m done now.

The new default language will now be utilized anytime you enter anything using the physical or on-screen keyboard.

Tip: To change the language options, such as auto-correct, sound, glide typing, etc., click on the arrow icon next to the language.

How to Change the Chromebook’s Keyboard Language While Typing

You have two options for changing the input language when typing on a Chromebook in addition to changing the default language.

1. Using the keyboard shortcut, change the language

To switch between the various keyboard languages, use Ctrl + Shift + Space on your keyboard. You may also use Ctrl + Space to alternate between the currently chosen language and a prior one.

2. Change Keyboard Language From Shelf

Select a Different Keyboard Language

On the shelf of the Chromebook, ChromeOS displays the keyboard language that is presently chosen. The other languages are also switchable from the shelf.

You must first activate the Input choices on the shelf to accomplish this. The specific stages are as follows:

1. Select Inputs and keyboard under Chromebook Settings > Advanced > Language and inputs.

2. Turn on the toggle next to the shelf’s Show input choices.

3. When the aforementioned setting is activated, the language choice will appear on the shelf with the initials of the selected language. Choose the language you wish to switch to from the list by clicking on the language symbol on the shelf.

Tip: To switch between languages from the Chromebook lock screen, use this technique.
