How to Set Up Edge Drop
Edge Drop was first introduced in the Canary version of Edge 104 and then proceeded to roll out to the stable update for all users.
After ensuring you’re running at least Edge 104, make sure you log in with your Microsoft account.
You can easily open the Drop feature from the sidebar.
However, if the sidebar doesn’t show, open the browser menu and navigate to Settings, then go to Appearance and enable the Show sidebar option.
In addition, you can use the Ctrl + Shift + / keyboard shortcut to show or hide the sidebar.
If the Drop icon isn’t visible on the sidebar, click the Customize sidebar icon. Then, turn on the toggle for Drop.
If you can’t find any option to enable the feature, it’s most likely that Microsoft may not have enabled Edge Drop in your region. Nevertheless, the best strategy is to use a VPN to conceal your IP address.

How to Upload Files to Edge Drop
Now that everything has been properly set up, you can share your files through Edge Drop. Wondering how? Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Go to the browser sidebar and click the Drop icon. This will bring up the Drop interface.
Step 2: Click the Plus icon from the bottom of the window to add a file. Another option is to drag and drop the files that you want to share. Simply use the Write a note to yourself field for additional information.
Step 3: Once the file has been uploaded, hit Send. You can also delete a file in case you’ve selected the wrong one. To do this, just click the three-dot icon at the top of the file and hit Delete.
How to Access Your Edge Drop Files on OneDrive
All the files that you share with Microsoft Edge will be saved by OneDrive in a folder named Microsoft Edge Drop Files.
If you’ve not set up your OneDrive account, you won’t be able to use the Edge Drop feature.
Also, if you want to upload a larger file, and it seems like you’re running out of space, simply click the three-dot icon to quickly check how much free space you have on your account.
How to Download Files From Edge Drop
You’ll have to sign in with the same Microsoft account if you want to download the file shared through Edge Drop. Then, turn on the Drop feature as we’ve explained in the steps above.
Click the Drop icon. If Edge doesn’t load the files, press the Refresh button at the top of the window. Once the file is visible, click the three-dot menu to select the next action.
Your Windows computer will save these files by default to the following location C:\Users\UserName\Downloads\Edge Drop Downloads. If your download fails, then you may have to free up some space.

Share Files and Notes With Microsoft Edge
Edge Drop is an easy-to-use solution to share files and notes across your devices and have them securely saved in your OneDrive account.
It’s an open fact that Microsoft Edge isn’t the first browser to give its users a free feature to share files.
So, if Mozilla Firefox was your favorite browser for a few years, you might remember Firefox Send. However, the feature wasn’t available for a long time, as Mozilla removed it in 2020.
In all, if you like Edge Drop and would love to give it a try, remember that Microsoft Edge comes with more functionalities that you can use to improve your user experience.
